Dr. Christopher J. Wetzler OD


Dr. Christopher Wetzler joined Dr. Dennis Brtva & Associates in July 2001.  He is licensed to practice optometry in all areas, from glasses and contacts, the diagnosis and monitoring of cataracts, macular degeneration, and diabetic eye disease, and the treatment of many eye diseases, including dry eye, eye infections, and glaucoma.  He is a member of the American Optometric Association, Illinois Optometric Association, Illinois Valley Optometric Society, and the Tomb and Key Honor Fraternity, which recognizes those who have achieved excellence in Optometric studies and have been found to possess the character and leadership befitting a practitioner of the profession of Optometry.  He has received rigorous education and training at:

  • Bachelor of Science – Bradley University, Peoria, Illinois.  1995
  • Doctorate of Optometry (Cum Laude) – Illinois College of Optometry, Chicago.  2001
  • Internship:  Illinois Eye Institute, Chicago, Illinois – Prescribing glasses; diagnosis and management of eye diseases; contact lens training including soft lenses, rigid lenses, contact lenses for astigmatism, bifocal contact lenses, and contact lenses for irregular corneas; pediatrics; and low vision.  1999-2001
  • Internship:  Midwest Eye Professionals, Palos Heights, Illinois – Diagnosis and management of eye diseases.  2000
  • Internship:  Battle Creek V.A. Medical Center, Battle Creek, Michigan – Prescribing glasses; diagnosis and management of eye diseases.  2001
Dr. Wetzler was born and raised in Peoria and is a 1991 graduate of Richwoods High School.  Dr. Wetzler had wanted to become an eye doctor ever since he was prescribed his first pair of glasses in second grade.  Today, he is a leading Peoria eye doctor. He is an avid fan of NASCAR, football, and basketball.  He resides in Eureka with his wife and three children.
